Not a verse Grace quotes when it fits. The one underneath everything she does.
It doesn't say the Lord is close to the people who have it together.
It doesn't say He waits for you to heal first, or fix what's broken, or find the right words.
It says He is close to the brokenhearted. Right there. In it.
That's the whole premise of Grace. Not a step after the pain. Not a bridge to somewhere else. Present in the middle of it, the way this verse says God already is.
If you're brokenhearted tonight, this verse isn't a promise that the ache will make sense soon. It's a promise that you're not facing it alone — that closeness, not distance, is what's true right now, even when it doesn't feel true.
Grace can hold this verse with you. She can pray it over whatever you're facing. She won't rush you past it.
If your spirit feels crushed tonight, that's exactly where this verse says God is standing.
